Whispers of a Little Garden

"Whispers of a Little Garden" explores the hidden life that can emerge when natural fragments meet drawing and imagination. Flowers, fallen petals, leaves, stems, and other fragile materials become more than remnants of the living world: they become characters, gestures, and traces of another reality.

Each work begins with something real and transient. I preserve fragments of nature at the moment when they are changing or fading, then allow them to enter a drawn world where their original forms acquire new meanings. A petal can become a wing, a stem a path, a fallen flower a living character.

The resulting images exist between observation and invention. They are not illustrations of an imagined world, but encounters between the tangible and the imagined - moments in which ordinary natural forms reveal a life of their own.

The works are also about transformation and time. The natural materials I use are fragile, changing, and impossible to reproduce exactly. By incorporating them into the artwork, I preserve a fleeting physical moment while giving the material a new, imagined existence.

The artwork therefore becomes a meeting point between two kinds of time: the time of nature and the time of the image. What was once temporary can continue to exist as part of a new visual reality.

The materials are not simply applied to the image; they participate in creating it.

Their natural textures, shapes, colours, and imperfections influence the form of each character and scene. In this way, the found fragment becomes part of the visual language rather than an illustration of it.

Across the series, petals, leaves, seeds, and stems become the starting points for small imagined worlds. Some forms suggest creatures, others landscapes, shelters, movement, or traces of an unseen presence. By allowing natural materials to shape the image, I explore the moment when something familiar becomes quietly unfamiliar

— and when the ordinary begins to reveal another life.
